At the moment I have a lot of work to be doing with school, and haven’t been able to be as active with cosplay as I had planned to be this year, the main reason being money. Cosplay cost A LOT of money; we all know that; and it seems to dominate everything that I have been up to lately; which is bad as cosplay is a release from reality ; not an added stress. When I say dominate I mean the money of it all; planning a cosplay is one thing ; but starting to make it and buy a wig the money soon mounts up ;with added costs for material and last minute costume needs. I have to be carful with what I spend as I have an amazing lack of money; and sadly sometimes cosplay is not the most important thing. Next year I will be only making costumes for events and really concentrating on what I am making, and try my best to make them intricate. I really enjoy cosplay and I always will, but putting the money aside cosplay is all about enjoying your self and being comfortable with your confidence, making friends and have great times with the ones you have made, not being the best most unique of your kind because this is when cosplay becomes a race , or competition to “bring” the costume out first before any one else does, and this can destroy friendships and create opinions maybe even label a person you don’t even know as a “copier” all because they are wearing the same costume as you. When I started out cosplaying I had that attitude because I was younger and I thrived on competition and looking the “best” ,but now I realise cosplay has brought me much better thing that what I was looking for, I meet my beautiful boyfriend that I love, and I gained amazing friendships with people that take me for who I am and I became more confident as a person, allowing me to speak to people at expo that I don’t even know to tell them they look awesome and all because I decided to make a costume and wear it. Cosplay also makes me feel pretty, ( I know that sounds soo cheese hehe) I have the chance for one day to become a person that doesn’t exists, to wear a costume and portray them in any way that I wish, i get create an art through the work that i ahve done, I love that feeling and that’s why I cosplay.

….That is probably the longest journal that I have ever written , and it’s not in my nature to write such a journal, but it has just all been sitting in my mind for a while.

Well, back to my cosplays, early next year I plan to start on array of Disney princesses, true dream cosplays of mine... and ONE! Anime character... (MEGA SHOCK)... I don’t cosplay anime that often.
